ORNAMENTS FOR MIND, BODY AND SPIRIT

Harry Cabe

One of the brilliant artists working under Domond Parizot’s tutelage in Jacmel, Harry brings an interesting turn of realism to his work. He’s given us a great deal of interesting topics within the Vodou themed world of Haiti. Fet Gede celebrations, with overtones of American zeal; Baron services for the ancestors; Rara at Easter. Even the stylized portraits of the Lwa hark back to Andre Pierre’s vision of elaborately costumed saints, living and working amid the lush foliage of the mahogany forest of Haiti. But it’s the execution that is most divine - Unusual pallete choices, wonderfully rendered and meticulously painted, with incredible details. A new master in the making.
